Laser Hair Removal

There is no need to thread, wax, pluck or shave any longer. You can now have the hair-free skin you always wanted.

Medical grade long-pulsed ND-YAG laser with a wavelength of 1064nm to safely reach deep into the skin for permanent hair reduction for both men and women. This ensures patients are receiving optimum results from their treatments.

The laser machine is great for all skin types. However, it works best on skin types 3-6 (Asian, Mediterranean, Afro-Caribbean skin). This is because melanin absorption at 1064nm is very low. Therefore, the risk of skin pigmentation damage is very low making the ND-YAG laser the only choice for hair removal for skin types 3-6. The laser treatment is carried out alongside a cold air skin cooling device, making the experience as comfortable as possible.

The number of sessions will vary for each individual however we on average would recommend 5-8 sessions. This would be one session every four weeks.

At UK Skin Aesthetics, we offer a full free consultation prior to starting your treatment to ensure you are at complete ease and all your questions are answered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which laser machine do you use?

We use only the ND-YAG medical grade laser. Alongside the laser machine, we use a handheld skin cooling device to ensure maximum comfort.

The ND-YAG is for all skin types. However, as it has a wavelength of 1064nm, it has shown to be the best treatment for skin types 3-6. That is Asian, Mediterranean, middle eastern, and Afro-Caribbean skin.

When we think of hair removal, we often imagine a generally uncomfortable and unpleasant experience – sometimes even an agonisingly painful one.

Fortunately, modern technology and developments in laser hair removal mean that uncomfortable, painful hair removal can be a thing of the past.

How do I prepare for treatment?

It is helpful if the area to be treated is shaved and free of creams, lotions or perfumes before you arrive for your appointment.

Also, we ask that you:

  • do not use any fake tans or wash-off tans before treatment – your skin must be its natural colour.
  • avoid using products such as retinoid or steroid creams on the area to be treated.
  • tell us about any prescribed or non-prescribed medication you are taking.

We will discuss how to prepare for the procedure during your initial consultation, when we will also ask you about any medication you are taking

How long does the treatment take?

For a small area, such as the face or underarms, one session will take around 5 to 15 minutes.

For medium-sized areas, such as bikini and half legs, the treatment will take around 30 minutes.

For large areas including full legs or full back, it will take about 1 to 1.5 hours.

Is there any downtime?

There is no downtime following the treatment, and you can return to your daily activities straight away.

Some people may experience a slight warmth or redness in the treated areas, but this is unusual and should disappear within a few hours.
